I usually take the girls to church with me on Sundays. Ryan either stays at home or plays a gig at the Ibis while we go. The girls always want to come with me. We pack plenty of things to keep them occupied, but usually the entire service ends up being a wrestling match between the three of us. I leave feeling flustered, and wishing I could have listened more closely to the sermon, as I begin to regret even taking the girls. I definitely don't think they have listened to a word of what was said.... Maybe I underestimated.
I was singing to Violet before I put her to bed tonight. I was singing the song from "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"- "As I Went Down In The River To Pray". I sang "Oh Mothers let's go down", then fathers, brothers, and sisters. Lastly, I came to "sinners". I stopped and asked Violet, "Do you know what a sinner is?" She smiled and said, "Yes". (I was thinking "yeah, right!") So then I asked, "What's a sinner?" She gave me that cute little smile once more and slowly stated
"Someone who turns away from the Lord"
just as clear as a bell.
WOW! I guess she does listen in church!just as clear as a bell.

Precious Violet! They are little sponges...especially that little one. Hang in there with the wrestling (I was actually sore with Cameron), I've been there and it's not easy but so worth it.
I'm so glad you continue to take the girls to church, Holly. "Their mother" was a bit of a challenge (to say the least) when she was little! Infact, every Sunday I'd have to take her out of church about 15-20 minutes before church ended (and probably should have done it much sooner! One Sunday we actually almost got to the final blessing...but we didn't quite make...too much squirming, crawling under the pews and crying. So out we went! A little old lady came up to me afterwards and said "I thought she just might make it this time!" So Holly...hang in there...we did and yes, it did pay off!
Love ya...Mom
O my goodness! Yay for Violet that she listens in church. That is seriously so cute!! Peyton would probably say a sinner is herself, not knowing what one is. We miss you guys.....
